Sophie the Dancer

Sophie's last day of dance before Christmas was "Bring your parents to dance" day. Little did we know, it was "Bring your parents to actually dance with you" day. Of course, Sophie wanted Dad to be her partner and he accepted the invitation wholeheartedly (orange-painted toe nails and all). And let me tell you, he's got skills.

Notice the knee height and the form. Sophie gets her moves from her Dad. Truth be known, I married him for his skipping.

And Sophie, there's nothing better than watching her dance.
A little story for you...
Sophie takes dance from Virginia Tanner dance which is a fabulous and free-spirited dance class (just like Sophie). We debated and debated whether to enroll her (cause it aint' cheap) and finally (after a generous donation from someone who will remain anonymous), we put her in the class. The first day we got to watch and the kind of dancing they did was pure Sophie. I was a little overcome with emotion because we had stressed over what to do. Sophie's dancing is such a special thing for her and we've wanted to treat it just right. So, at the end of class the teacher gave them all a picture of a body and asked them to color on the bodies that parts that they like to dance with. The kids did their drawing and then started holding up their papers and calling out things like, "my arms!", "my legs!", or "my head!". Sophie finished her drawing, held it up, and yelled out, "my heart!". I looked and she had drawn a heart over the chest of her picture.

Oh, Sophie.

Oh, what a day!

So, yesterday was not one of my better days.
I was rushing to Pottery Barn (I only had one hour, so at 20 minutes travel time each way, I was stuck with not a lot of time) to do some quick Christmas present buying. I was totally zoned out as I was driving , and, I got pulled over. (In my defense, I was going with the flow of traffic. A fact which the police officer confirmed) Being a ticket virgin, I was a little flustered. I was rummaging through the glove compartment trying to find my registration (because that's what they say on the movies, "license and registration, please") and the cop finally had to tap on the window to get my attention. I rolled down the window and began apologizing profusely (and I mean PROFUSELY). He quickly realized that he had a crazy lady on his hands and so he began to attempt to calm me by telling me that it was OK, and tried to console me by saying it happens to everyone. I told him that it had never happened to me before and I was so sorry but I was a little nervous. He told me that all he needed was my drivers license, so I fumbled not-so-gracefully through my wallet and handed him my license. I calmed down thinking I had things under control...and then the cop kindly told me thank you, but he needed my license...not my credit card.

As Wade's boss said to me this morning, "It's a good thing you didn't get a sobriety test." Honestly!

The only positive moment was when I told Sophie I had gotten a ticket she sat for a minute thinking and then said, "Well, did the Policeman tell you that you're beautiful? Because I really like your earrings today."
Oh, sweet, sweet, Sophie.

Emma the Gymnast

Emma had her second gymnastics meet the same day as the Utah/BYU game and, believe me, there were some seriously committed Dads, Grandpas, and one mom (we won't mention any names) who came and cheered on the little gymnasts. Emma was fantastic! Here are some highlights.

Stinking Cute!

Go Utes!

Go Utes!
Thanks to some great friends, we got to experience true tailgating at the Utah/BYU game. It was quite a party! Lots of loud, wild, hyper, drunk Ute fans...and the Greenwoods. We fit right in.
It was AWESOME!
