Sophie the Dancer

Sophie's last day of dance before Christmas was "Bring your parents to dance" day. Little did we know, it was "Bring your parents to actually dance with you" day. Of course, Sophie wanted Dad to be her partner and he accepted the invitation wholeheartedly (orange-painted toe nails and all). And let me tell you, he's got skills.

Notice the knee height and the form. Sophie gets her moves from her Dad. Truth be known, I married him for his skipping.

And Sophie, there's nothing better than watching her dance.
A little story for you...
Sophie takes dance from Virginia Tanner dance which is a fabulous and free-spirited dance class (just like Sophie). We debated and debated whether to enroll her (cause it aint' cheap) and finally (after a generous donation from someone who will remain anonymous), we put her in the class. The first day we got to watch and the kind of dancing they did was pure Sophie. I was a little overcome with emotion because we had stressed over what to do. Sophie's dancing is such a special thing for her and we've wanted to treat it just right. So, at the end of class the teacher gave them all a picture of a body and asked them to color on the bodies that parts that they like to dance with. The kids did their drawing and then started holding up their papers and calling out things like, "my arms!", "my legs!", or "my head!". Sophie finished her drawing, held it up, and yelled out, "my heart!". I looked and she had drawn a heart over the chest of her picture.

Oh, Sophie.

Oh, what a day!

So, yesterday was not one of my better days.
I was rushing to Pottery Barn (I only had one hour, so at 20 minutes travel time each way, I was stuck with not a lot of time) to do some quick Christmas present buying. I was totally zoned out as I was driving , and, I got pulled over. (In my defense, I was going with the flow of traffic. A fact which the police officer confirmed) Being a ticket virgin, I was a little flustered. I was rummaging through the glove compartment trying to find my registration (because that's what they say on the movies, "license and registration, please") and the cop finally had to tap on the window to get my attention. I rolled down the window and began apologizing profusely (and I mean PROFUSELY). He quickly realized that he had a crazy lady on his hands and so he began to attempt to calm me by telling me that it was OK, and tried to console me by saying it happens to everyone. I told him that it had never happened to me before and I was so sorry but I was a little nervous. He told me that all he needed was my drivers license, so I fumbled not-so-gracefully through my wallet and handed him my license. I calmed down thinking I had things under control...and then the cop kindly told me thank you, but he needed my license...not my credit card.

As Wade's boss said to me this morning, "It's a good thing you didn't get a sobriety test." Honestly!

The only positive moment was when I told Sophie I had gotten a ticket she sat for a minute thinking and then said, "Well, did the Policeman tell you that you're beautiful? Because I really like your earrings today."
Oh, sweet, sweet, Sophie.

Emma the Gymnast

Emma had her second gymnastics meet the same day as the Utah/BYU game and, believe me, there were some seriously committed Dads, Grandpas, and one mom (we won't mention any names) who came and cheered on the little gymnasts. Emma was fantastic! Here are some highlights.

The awards ceremony

Stinking Cute!

Go Utes!

Go Utes!
Thanks to some great friends, we got to experience true tailgating at the Utah/BYU game. It was quite a party! Lots of loud, wild, hyper, drunk Ute fans...and the Greenwoods. We fit right in.
It was AWESOME!

Sweet Sweet Sophie

So, today we were listening to Christmas music as the girls got ready for school. All of them love, love, love singing along with all music but especially Christmas tunes. So Sophie started singing along with "The 12 Days of Christmas" Sophie style. It went a little something like this...

"On the fifth day of Christmas my true love sent to me...
Five go-old riiiings.
Fo-our calling birds,
Three French kids,
Two-oo turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree!!!!"

Did ya catch that? Three French Kids.
Once again...I almost peed my pants.

The Princesses

So, a couple of weeks ago it was our Primary Program. I was a little stressed that morning because I had to be ready to do the music for the program and I knew that during the meeting they were going to announce that I had been called to be the new Primary President (!). It was not one of my better mornings. So I asked Wade to help get the gals dressed for church and I hopped into the shower. When I came out, there were three lovely princesses (literally) all ready for the program. They (and Wade) thought they were quite hilarious. Here's what was going on behind the scenes...

Halloween

Halloween Time!

As you know, the Greenwood's are total geeks when it comes to Halloween. So, here are a few samples from this years festivities.

Meg and Wade (aka Jack and Sally) looking good (Wade actually freaked out many a child in the neighborhood)

Sophie LOVED being a witchy-poo!

Lily LOVED being a skeleton (a "nice skeleton" as she continually reminded us)!

But, it was Emma who freaked us out the most in her Devil costume...she looked like she was 14 years old! AAAAHHHH!

And, here we are all together...One freaky bunch!

Wade's Election B-Day

So, Wade, in all his subtlety, celebrated his election day birthday in style. And what an election day it was! All of his birthday wishes came true.

He even decorated for his own party. Once again, he's all about subtlety...

Happy Birthday Wade!

My new toy!

So, if you'll notice, this is my fourth post in less that twenty-four hours. That's because I have a new toy!!!!! For my birthday Wade bought me a MacBook! I know, a little much, I feel the same way. I am not used to having my own toys and it took me a while to actually accept this one (9 days to be exact). But, now that I have it, I must say that I quite like it. I think I could ge used to toys.

And, hopefully, it will help me be a little better at blogging (but don't get your hopes up).

The life of a Greenwood Girl

Do you think we push our kids a little too hard? Being a Greenwood Girl is never easy. From party, to party, to vacation, to party. It's a tough life.

Hawy Pottow

Just check this out...

Honestly, she makes me pee my pants.

Our adventures in Disneyland

You know you're a pathetic blogger when you go to add a new post and you can't remember your own blog name! Anywho...

Here are some photos from our marathon adventures in Disneyland. Oh, how the Greenwood Girls love Disneyland! Thankfully, no broken bones this time.

Sophie loves roller coasters...

Emma loves roller coaster too...

Lily doesn't.

But, most of all, Wade loves roller coasters!

Emma, being the emerging dare-devil that she is, braved the California Screamin' roller coaster, TWICE!

Most of all, Lily loved Woody, Jessie, and Minnie

Back to the grind!

So I know it's a little late to be posting about the start of school, but hey, I'm new at this. The girls love school! (well, the word love may be a little strong for Lily but we're working on it) We're getting used to the routine (wake up early, car, school, car, errands, car, lessons, car, eating dinner before 8 pm, etc., etc.,). Here are some first day of school pictures for all three.

Emma, as always, is pure Emma: cute, efficient, messy, smart, and definitely developing some 2nd grade sass.

Sophie definitely has her mother's sleeping genes, which is presenting us with some difficulty in the mornings. Luckily, she's cute, so what do you do?

Lily, oh where to begin with Lily...going to school with all the boys in the neighborhood, and not quite sure how to handle it (like I said, we're working on it).

Testing, testing, 1..2..3..

Was there ever something that you resisted so much, you knew, without a doubt, that eventually you would cave? Well, here I am...blogging!!!!
Oh, this goes against everything I, the anti-scrapbooker, believe in. But in true Megan fashion, I'm eating my words. So this is for Tim, Heather, Amy, Sharla and so on (so they can see what's going on), and yes oh yes, Brenda and Carrie (so they can stop bugging me). Here's to my potential as the most pathetic blogger ever (because I just don't do cute, clever, crafty, articulate, etc.)!
